WASHINGTON-CALDWELL

SCHOOL DISTRICT

“Home of the Bulldogs!”

Principal’s Bulletin Board Message

“Alone we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”

(Helen Keller)

OPEN ENROLLMENT: FEBRUARY 7 – APRIL 30

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8TH AT 6:00 P.M.

For the Week of February 6, 2012:

Kindergarten Registration for the 2012-2013 school year will be held this week on Wednesday, February 8th starting at 6:00 p.m. in our school’s library.  Any parent wishing to register his/her child for next year’s Kindergarten class is urged to attend.

Report Cards were sent home on Friday, February 3rd.

Congratulations to Myles Theriault who emerged as our local Spelling Bee winner.  The contest was held at school this past Monday.  18 students in grades 3-8 participated in the competition.   Ashley Kieckhefer was Runner-up in the Spelling Bee.  Both Myles and Ashley will represent our school at the regional Spelling Bee to be held in Whitewater on February 8th.  Best wishes, to both Myles and Ashley!

On Monday, a special school board meeting will be held.  The purpose of the meeting is to begin the mid-year review for superintendent/principal, Dr. Mark Pienkos.  The meeting begins in open session at 6:30. The school board will then move into closed session for the personnel review.

Our students will celebrate the 100th day of school on Tuesday.

On this Wednesday afternoon from 4:30-7:30 p.m., our staff will be working at the McDonald’s restaurant on Highway 36 in Waterford during the first-ever McDonald’s “McTeacher Night.”  This is a fundraising event for our school.  10% of all food sales that evening will come back to the school.  Our teachers and staff have yet to decide how they might use the proceeds from this fundraiser, but in some way it will benefit students, the school, or someone in the community.  Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at McDonald’s on Tuesday, February 7th!

This week on Monday and Wednesday after school, Media Night will take place from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  Permission slips are required.

On Wednesday morning, the Waterford Kiwanis Club will be distributing “Terrific Kids” (Grades K-2) and “Bringing Up Grades” (B.U.G. in Grades 3-5) awards.  In the afternoon at 2:45 in the multi-purpose room, the middle school honor roll assembly will take place.  Also, all students earning perfect attendance for the 2nd nine weeks will receive a certificate for their attendance efforts.  Congratulations to all our students for their attention to excellence during the 2nd nine weeks of school.

The weather remains surprisingly mild for winter in Wisconsin.  However, we all know that weather in our area can change dramatically.  I ask parents to please dress your children appropriately.  Also, please listen to area T.V. and radio stations for school closing information due to inclement weather.  Again, it’s Wisconsin!

Please drive safely at all times around school.  Remember to wear seat belts at all times – seat belts save lives!

Your continued support for the students and staff at Washington-Caldwell is greatly appreciated!

GO BULLDOGS!

Mark Pienkos, Ed.D.

“Few will have the opportunity to bend history itself,

but each of us can work to change a small portion of events

and in the total of all these acts will be written

the history of this generation.”
